The Vertical Crime Scene: Solve a Murder Mystery on a Climbing Wall in Mumbai

On Saturday 31 October, High Rock and Forensics4Fun are turning our climbing walls in Powai into a crime scene. The Vertical Crime Scene is a live murder mystery that you solve while you rock climb: two hours of climbing, hidden clues and a case to crack before time runs out.

What is The Vertical Crime Scene?

Think escape room meets climbing wall. The mystery is created by Forensics4Fun, founded by Aloki Doshi. It’s designed by professionals who educate law enforcement, and for one morning, they’re hiding the evidence on our walls.

Your job is to think like a detective and climb like one:

• Follow the evidence
• Scale the walls to uncover hidden clues
• Connect the dots before anyone else
• Crack the case before time runs out

Every hold could reveal a lead, and every move could change the story.

How the morning works

9–10 AM: Warm-up and training. The High Rock team gets you warmed up and teaches you the climbing basics, from putting on your harness to moving safely on the wall. No experience needed.

10–11 AM: Solve the mystery. The case opens. Climb to find the clues, piece the story together and work out whodunnit.

After 11 AM: Keep climbing. Your ticket includes unlimited climbing for the rest of the day on 31 October, so stay on and enjoy the walls.

Why climbing and a murder mystery work so well together

Climbing is already a puzzle. Every route asks you to read the holds, plan your next move and stay calm when you’re halfway up a 33-foot wall. Add a mystery to solve and you get a morning that works your body and your brain at the same time, with plenty of laughs (and a little healthy suspicion of your friends) along the way.

It’s a great pick if you’re looking for something different to do in Mumbai this weekend, a plan for a group of friends, or a family outing with older kids.

Who can join?

• Beginners are totally welcome. You’ll learn everything you need in the first hour. New to climbing? Read our guide to rock climbing in Mumbai.
• Ages 10 and up. Under-18s must be accompanied by a participating guardian, so book 2 tickets.
• Gear is included: climbing shoes and a harness for everyone.
• Only 25 spots, so the group stays small and everyone gets to climb.

Before you come

Wear regular sports clothes, keep your nails very short, and bring socks, a water bottle and hair ties if you have long hair. Leave rings and loose jewellery at home.
