One Year at High Rock — A Year of Movement, Community & Milestones
A year ago, we had a dream to turn a space in Mumbai into a thriving hub for climbing, fitness, and community. Fast forward to today: that dream is real, and bigger than ever. High Rock has grown into a space where walls are climbed, friends are made, and every day feels like a new adventure. As we mark one year, let’s rewind through the moments that have made this year unforgettable.
From Bare Walls to a Climber’s Playground
It all started with a vision and the empty walls. Watching our very first climbing wall go up was the first brick of a dream. The days preceding the opening were a mix of chaos, excitement, and relentless energy to build a space that would soon welcome Mumbai’s climbing community. Every bolt, hold, and panel was a step closer to giving form to this idea.
Our First Value Statement: The Women-Only Pre-Opening
Before opening our doors to the general public, we hosted a women-only pre-opening. Behind this was an intent to create a safe space where women could climb freely, build confidence, and define what adventure activities in Mumbai mean to them on their own terms.
Movement beyond climbing: the introduction of the Padel Court
Our vision didn’t end at climbing; rather, it began there. We believe fitness should be playful, varied, and social. Enter the padel court – a space that brought a new rhythm to the High Rock community. Suddenly, evenings were buzzing with more than climbs; rallies, laughs, and challenges that brought people together in new ways.
December 21, 2024 – The Official Launch
The day finally arrived. The air was rife with nerves, anticipation, and excitement as the doors opened to Mumbai. The official launch wasn’t a ribbon-cutting but a celebration planning, dreaming, and building. And the city showed up-ready to climb, move, and be part of something special.

Guest Setter Spotlight: Vaibhav’s Legacy
From the very first routes, India’s climbing legend Vaibhav helped define High Rock’s spirit. His influence was not only on the walls but on the very energy of the gym. Every hold he placed, every route he designed carried a story-and a challenge-that inspired climbers of all levels.
The Day Mumbai Showed Up: January 1, 2025
What better way to start the year than on the indoor climbing walls? The first day of the year became our biggest non-event day ever. Hundreds came in, ready to move, climb, and set goals; a sign that Mumbai was choosing movement, community, and High Rock as a place to start afresh.
Introducing ARC Recovery
Climbing is exhilarating-but recovery matters, too. That’s why we introduced ARC Recovery: a dedicated space for post-climbing care. The community response overwhelmed us: climbers and movers alike embraced the chance to recharge, recover, and feel better after every session.
Our First Community Event: High Rock Jam
Nothing brings people together like shared passion. High Rock Jam, our inaugural community event, was a pure celebration of vibes: creativity, competition, laughter, and unwavering support. It wasn’t just a climbing event; it was the moment the community truly became family.
High Rock Academy for Kids
At High Rock, it isn’t only grownups who want to move. The Academy for Kids launched this year with energy and enthusiasm, and a lot of little climbers. From first climbs to first medals, watching these “little crushers” grow has been one of the year’s proudest moments.
Route Setting Masters Behind the Walls
The creation of the rock climbing walls is an art, and we had the masters: Hritik Marne, India’s strongest climber, brings pure power, while Sam Watson adds style and technique with his international perspective. Together, they ensure each route challenges, inspires, and delights our climbers.
Team Development: Petzl Upskilling
High Rock is not all about the walls, but about the people who make experiences safe, fun, and world-class. This year, our team embarked on Petzl upskilling programs: a commitment to safety, professional excellence, and continuous growth. Because a great community deserves a great team.
Competition Wins: Gold, Silver & Bronze
Our Lil’ climbers made us proud: gold, silver, bronze, and loads of personal victories. Behind each medal, there is a story of dedication, sweat, and community support. These achievements remind us why we built High Rock in the first place.
5K Instagram Community
And online, that community is growing just as fast. From day one, our digital family has swelled to 5,000 climbers, movers, and supporters—people who cheer for one another, celebrate milestones, and share in the spirit of movement.
Looking Ahead: Year Two and Beyond
As we close the first chapter, the next is already calling. New routes, new events, and new faces are on the horizon. One thing is certain: climbing, movement, and community will remain at our core. Because this is just the beginning, and the best is yet to come.
